HANEGRAEF WINS DRAMATIC WOMENS STAND UP FINAL
11 July, 2022, MONTICIANO (Italy): Belgium’s Jasmine Hanegraef pulled off a sensational win in the women’s Stand Up final.
The final was full of drama from the push off with two of her rivals taking tumbles on the opening corners and unable to recover and handing Hanegraef, who was the slowest of the four finalists in qualifying, the advantage. “I’m super, super happy. You never know what to expect because everyone is so good. I got lucky because two of the girls crashed. Tamara didn’t make it through the first corner. Grace was in front but didn’t make it through the second [corner]. I had to go round to avoid the hay bales but in the end managed to get over the finish line in first.” said Hanegraef.
Malaysia’s Grace Wong, fastest in Saturday’s qualifying, was able to recover from her spill to take the runners-up slot ahead of German Livia Waldburger who managed to avoid all the carnage to get onto the podium.
