MAHDZAN, PONCELET AND HANEGRAEF SET THE PACE IN QUALIFYING
ERZiNCAN, (Turkey), Saturday, 14 October: Malaysia’s Abdil Mahdzan was the quickest of all in today’s official qualifying in Erzincan, with a 2:23.19s run down the 3.2km 10 turn Ergan Dagi course and looks to be odds on favourite heading into this afternoon’s knockout rounds and the first of two finals this weekend.
The defending Luge world champion dominated the session from the outset nailing his best time on his opening run to top the time sheets by over five seconds from Poland’s Arkadiusz Kowalski’s best of 2:28.89 with Briton Andrew Speight posting a 2:32.54 to go third quickest.
In Open Skateboard Spain’s defending world champion Diego Poncelet looks to be on track after setting the quickest time of 2:26.24 on his only run to edge Czech rider Vašek Čvančara by just over a second, with Australia’s Harry Clarke third quickest with 2:28.27, Jasmijn Hanegraef out pacing Lisa Peters with a best time of 2:52.25.
