Roan Mountain, TN, USA, 15 November 2024: Just weeks after being devastated by Hurricane Helene Roan Mountain served up a fitting finale to the 2024 Brinx World Downhill Skateboarding Championship.

Heading into the third and final round of the 2024 campaign – with the two best results to count – the world title in Open Stand-Up was up for grabs and a three-way fight between France’s Andreas Bouclier and Adrien Paynel and Australia’s Harry Clarke.

For the French duo it would end in heartbreak for Clarke pure elation playing out a script in a spectacular and dramatic final that could not have been written; Round 1 winner Bouclier was in the box seat and topped the standings and cruised into the semi-finals, but that’s where his title challenge ended, failing to make the final.

The door was open for his rivals and his countryman looked to be well on his way to victory, but with a clear lead fastest qualifier Paynel made a huge mistake, drifted wide on a fast-sweeping left-hander and into the bails. Clarke, who won each of his knockout rounds, seized the moment hit the front and go on to add to his win in Wales and clinch his second world title, the Brinx Cup and $10,000 prizemoney, Paynel recovering to finish third in the race behind Owen Fox to secure the lower step on the championship podium behind runner-up Paynel. Dexter Manning took top honours in the Qualifier Series and seventh in the world championship.

In Luge Canada’s former champion Kolby Parks was in an unassailable position after winning in Turkiye and Wales with the title in the bag and rounded out his season finishing third behind Italy’s Marco Mannino and fastest qualifier American Andy Lally, with German Ulrich Becker taking top honours in the Qualifying Series and seal the championship runners-up slot ahead of British ace Andrew Speight.
