ECHEGARAY DIEZ COMPLETES PERFECT SCORECARD TO WIN IN LUGE

11 July, 2022, MONTICIANO (Italy): Spain’s Mikel Echegaray Diez was another rider to hand in the perfect scorecard over the event weekend, taking victory in Luge.

The top qualifier dominated his heats, winning both, and then held off a strong line-up in the final to take the win. “It was a good final. The guys pushed me really hard. I was in front to the first corner and then had to work hard to stay there and so I pushed all the way with the guys’ right there behind me. But I got the win which was great.”

It was a case of déjà vu for Malaysia’s Abdil Mahdzan; despite winning his two rounds he again had to settle for second place to Diez, the final spot on the podium going to Canadian Kolby Parks with Briton George Cheeseman just missing out in fourth.
