KOZAKOV TO KICK-START 2023 WORLD DOWNHILL SKATEBOARDING CHAMPIONSHIP

* Five races – Three new venues

LONDON, 13 February 2023: The Czech Republic will kick-start the 2023 World Downhill Skateboarding Championship with five rounds announced on the provisional calendar issued today by promoter Race Marketing & Management (RMM).

For its season-opener the championship aims to return to Kozakov in July and the 13th edition of the iconic ‘Kozakov Challenge’ organised by Czech Gravity Sports Association O.S, and will then head to Tenerife, the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands for round 2, to complete the [July double header].

In September the series heads back to a resurfaced course in Turkey and to Cappadocia where the 2022 world titles were decided in a thrilling finale, with the final two rounds of the season taking place in Asheville in the United States of America in October and Fortaleza in Brazil in November. “What better place than Kozakov to launch our season,” said Selim Kemahli, managing director RMM. “The event, the competition and the ‘hill’ are iconic and revered by racers from all over the world. And as in 2022 we expect another impressive turnout.

“There has been a tremendous upsurge in interest from around the world to host a round of the championship and this is reflected in the calendar with three new venues complimenting those where we raced last year and we are in ongoing talks with other venues.

“Last year was our first collaboration with World Gravity Sports Federation (WGSF) and the results were very encouraging and we will be looking to build on that and again work closely with the competitors to grow the sport and broaden its reach.”
