London, October 17, 2025 — The World Downhill Skateboarding Championship (WDSC) is thrilled to announce that we have been shortlisted for an award in the category of Best Emerging Sport by the globally recognised and respected organisation – Major Events International. Awards will be presented at the Federations Summit- Award Dinner at Old Trafford in Manchester on November 4th and will be attended by WDSC Promoter Selim Kemahli.

“This is proof that our efforts have been worthwhile. The WDSC is a green sport that pushes the limits of human ability, with skaters and lugers racing each other down winding roads at speeds exceeding 120kmh. This is proper racing. It doesn’t get greener than this and it doesn’t get better than this. I would like to thank the Major Events International organisation for recognising us as a serious World Championship, one that now has its sights set firmly on the Olympics.
