WDSC RELEASE THE NAMES OF 2024 RIDER LISTS

LONDON, Friday, 17 November: Race Marketing & Management and World Gravity Sports Federation have released the names of riders pre-selected to participate in the 2024 World Downhill Skateboarding Championship.

The decision by both organisations to establish a ‘core of top-flight’ riders to form the baseline entry for next years and future series is part of their ongoing campaign to restructure and develop the WDSC and follows on from the introduction of a raft of recent measures to enhance and improve the championship, such as the new three round knockout qualifying format showcased in Erzincan,Turkiye earlier this year.

The number of riders competing in the WDSC across the four categories, Open Stand Up, Open Luge, Women’s Stand Up and Women’s Luge will be set at 60, of which 52 are pre-determined and based on rider results from the 2022 &2023 WDSC seasons and the 2022 WSG and breaks down as follows; Open Stand Up 30, 10 from 2023, 14 from 2022, 6 from WSG – Open Street Luge 14, 4 from 2023, 6 from 2022, 4 from WSG – Women’s Stand Up 6, 2 from 2023, 2 from 2022, 2 from WSG – Women’s Street Luge 2, 1 from 2022, 1 from WSG.

The additional eight riders will be made up from the top two riders from each category from the Qualifier Series which will be run on the Thursday and Friday at some WDSC events.

Riders on the pre-selected lists will be asked to confirm their participation well in advance of the season and each event, and in the case of a shortfall [of numbers] for whatever reason, will be made up from riders currently on an Alternates’ listing, with a demotion and promotion of a set number of riders at the end of the season and again based on results.
